The Project

MyBenefitLink, a platform developed by Agency Smart, is an online management system for group benefits. Employees can use it to view various benefits offered by their employer, such as healthcare insurance, employer-matched investment programs, and other perks. Employees enter the portal, and can enter their own personal information, elect benefits, and electronically sign forms to take advantage of these benefits. That process happens once a year through open enrollment - throughout the year, employees can use the system to view their benefits and contact HR or their agent for help in case they have questions or want to change their participation in these programs.

THE CHALLENGE

Agency Smart approached us for help putting together a team to finalize and release the MBL platform after it had been stuck in pre-production for over a year. The application had previously been started by another outsourcing company, but the code quality was in poor shape and the deadline for getting the platform in front of users was already past due for delivery.

THE SOLUTION

After evaluating the existing code base, Binary Studio quickly assembled a team of engineers to immediately start finishing out features, finishing the frontend portion of the platform within four months of starting the engagement. Since then, Binary has continued to work on the MBL platform to flesh out the functionality as well as focus on more backend features for the overall platform.

Results

  • Worked directly with the client’s CTO in order to quickly understand and evaluate the platform, as well as create a plan for developing out the remaining features for production.
  • Assembled a team and wrapped up the frontend portion of the platform within 4 months.
  • Continuously work with the customer’s team supporting the live platform and adding features and functionality.
